60 Minute Parkerhouse Rolls

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 pkgs. yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1-1/2 cup milk
  • 3 T sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4-1/2 to 5 cup flour

 

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
  2. Put milk, sugar, salt and 1/2 of the butter in a saucepan and heat until lukewarm.
  3. Add yeast and flour.
  4. Cover and place in warm place for 15 minutes.
  5. Turn out on floured board and pat to 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. Cut with biscuit cutter.
  7. Brush with reserved butter and fold over.
  8. Let rise on baking sheet in warm place for 15 minutes.
  9. Bake in 450 degree oven for 10 minutes or until nicely browned.

 

YIELD:  Makes two dozen rolls
